The remains of a homicide victim discovered more than 30 years ago have been identified through DNA analysis as a those of a Henderson woman, Metro Police announced today.

The woman, previously referred to as Jane Tropicana Doe, was identified as Linda Sue Anderson, also known by the last name of Andrews, police said.

Her remains were discovered on April 18, 1993, in the desert near Tropicana Avenue and Durango Drive, police said.

A biologist conducting a tortoise survey found a handmade quilt buried in the dirt with several large rocks placed on top of it, leading to the discovery of the remains, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide that occurred in mid- to late 1991, police said.

In February, Metro requested that Othram, a Texas company that helps resolve unsolved homicides, conduct a forensic genetic genealogy investigation of the remains.

Detectives identified and contact possible family members of the victim and obtained DNA samples from them for comparison, police said.

The company notified Metro last month that it had positively identified the remains, police said.

Family members reported they last heard from Anderson, who would have been 38 at the time of her death, during a phone call in June 1991, police said.

Anyone with information about Anderson should contact Metro at 702-828-3521 or by email at [email protected]. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.
