Las Vegas police officer, pedestrian hurt in crash in parking lot

An officer and a pedestrian were injured Tuesday after a van hit a motorcycle in the parking lot of a convenience store, according to Metro Police.

The officer was assisting a citizen about 6:25 p.m. in the 4100 block of Boulder Highway when the van hit a parked police motorcycle, Metro said. The motorcycle hit the officer, and the van struck the pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian, a 63-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.

The 32-year-old officer suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, police said.

Neither the driver of the van, a 40-year-old Las Vegas woman, nor a 14-year-old female passenger were hurt, police said.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

The van, which was headed south on Lamb Boulevard before the crash, may have experienced a mechanical defect and entered the parking lot, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
