A description of a woman with face tattoos led to the arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man sitting in a van, according to Metro Police.

Kayla Alery, 27, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of open murder and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The shooting was reported about 4 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 3600 block of South Fort Apache Road, police said.

The shooter, who was reportedly wearing dark clothing and had face tattoos, fled the area on foot, police said.

Based on the description, officers located Alery and took her into custody near the scene, police said. Detectives later identified her as a suspect in the case, police said.

A booking photo shows Alery with several tattoos around her eyes and a large tattoo on her neck.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The shooting is still under investigation, police said.
