Maybe the music scene is quiet because country music fans have left the Strip en masse for this year’s 50th Academy of Country Music Awards. It has moved — thankfully for only one year — from MGM Grand Garden Arena to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

In the United States, 40 percent of all edible food goes uneaten and is thrown away. Or, to put it another way, nearly half of all the edible food in this country is feeding our nation’s landfills. That statistic is unbelievable.
