From the school
"Sawyer Middle School believes that parental communication is vital to a strong academic program and communicates through the following methods:
- Transitional activities such as sixth grade summer camps, back to school nights, fifth grade campus visits, eighth grade night at feeder high schools, new student orientations, pre-registration parent nights.
- Technologies such as the InTouch online system that allows parent to access to student information from home; the autodialer system that calls parents both when students are absent and when the school is holding upcoming events; and online registration that is offered to students both at school and at home over the internet.
- Events such as monthly PAC meetings, English language learners family nights and fall carnivals that often have more than 2000 attendees.
- Communication tools such as student agendas that organize collaboration among parents, teachers, and students; bi-monthly newsletters; team and department newsletters; a master calendar that is posted on the school Web site; daily, weekly and quarterly progress reports; and test scores, event reminders, and registration materials that are mailed home.
- Parent committees such as school generated funds, school improvement, fundraising, and SST.
- Parent-teacher-student conferences that are scheduled upon request."
