Bern’s take: The team’s best defenders worked hard this offseason to also become one of its best leaders. Hawkins is more vocal with the team and he also spent a lot of time on the court not only improving his ball-handling but also figuring out where all of his teammates need the ball in order to have the best chance to score. Hawkins won’t get as much attention as fellow guards Anthony Marshall or Katin Reinhardt but he’s every bit as important, if not more.
