Former Rebel wins tourney

Sunny Oh became the first former UNLV women's golfer to win a professional tournament when she captured the Duramed Futures Tour event Sunday in Lakeland, Fla.

Oh shot a final-round 69 for a three-round total of five-under 211 in the Bright House Networks Open, which left her tied for first with Kim Welch and Chella Choi after 54 holes. She sank a 20-foot putt on the first playoff hole on the Cleveland Heights Golf Course for the first win of her professional career.

Oh, 25, earned $11,900 for the victory.

Oh, who played at UNLV in 2003 and 2004, was one of the most decorated golfers in the short history of the Rebels program. She was the 2003 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, a two-time All-American, the 2003 NCAA West Regional champion, the 2004 MWC Conference Player of the Year and a five-time collegiate winner, including the 2004 MWC Championship.
