Vegas Play of the Day: Boston Celtics at Detroit Pistons

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Boston Celtics plus-2 at Detroit Pistons: $330 to win $300

Some bettors like to blindly fade any team playing on back-to-back nights. Not me.

It all depends on the situation. The Celtics are one team I have no apprehension over backing in the role.

Not only are they one of the five youngest teams in the NBA, but they also disperse their minutes as much as any other team. Combine those two factors, and there’s no worry about them not having fresh enough legs.

Boston didn’t play great against Cleveland last night, losing 89-77 as a 1-pont underdog, but it was a great spot for the Cavaliers, who were motivated and coming off of four days of rest. Boston was unlucky to shoot just 28-for-87 from the field, a percentage that should turn around immediately.

From an overall efficiency standpoint, Boston is far ahead of Detroit this season. There are only a handful of teams in the Eastern Conference that should give the Celtics points, even if they’re at home, and the Pistons aren’t one of them.

Boston should win outright.
