With picks on the side and total for game 3 of the NBA Finals already in a separate blog entry, I’ll go a different direction with the South Point-lined Play of the Day.

Let’s hit the proposition board with the starting $10,000 bankroll.

Matthew Dellavedova under 9.5 points: $275 to win $250

The Cavaliers’ de facto point guard — with Kyrie Irving out — is suddenly one of the most popular subjects of the NBA Finals. The attention on the Australian, who went undrafted out of Saint Mary’s, was even enough to get him his own prop bet.

And naturally, it’s a bit inflated. The man affectionately referred to as “Delly” has managed some big games in the playoffs, yet his scoring average is still less than seven points per game. He scored less than five per game during the regular season.

The number should be a little higher because of the influx of minutes coming his way in the finals, but he’s not necessarily going to take advantage and become one of Cleveland’s primary scoring options. In game two, Dellavedova logged 42 minutes and totaled 9 points on 3-for-10 shooting.

The performance was heralded as essential to Cleveland’s overtime victory, especially after sinking two late free throws to give it the lead. If that’s the best Dellavedova can offer, then betting under is the way to go.

Standings: Bern (82-72-1, $11,355), Keefer (82-82-2, $9,617), Brewer (70-86-3, $0)
