Vegas Play of the Day: Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Cleveland Indians minus-130 vs. Boston Red Sox: $650 to win $500

Cleveland is my pick to represent the American League in the World Series. Implicit in that prediction is the belief that it carries value early in the season.

South Point is dealing one of the lower prices in town on this game, so there’s no hesitation in laying a reasonable amount to back the Indians. Not with Danny Salazar on the mound.

The 26-year-old has Cy Young potential. He’s struck out 9.9 batters per nine innings in his three-year Major League career.

Boston has a formidable offense, as seen when it blasted equally gifted Carlos Carrasco for four runs in Wednesday’s game. But the Indians can hit their share, too, and Red Sox starter Joe Kelly will oblige.

Starting today, I’ll subscribe to the Tribe.
