Vegas Play of the Day: Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Detroit Pistons plus-11 at Cleveland Cavaliers: $1,100 to win $1,000

Both double-digit favorites on the first day of the NBA Playoffs covered with ease, but don’t get used to it. The streak should end with today’s first game.

The Pistons are far better than the Rockets and the Mavericks. The Cavaliers aren’t as lethal as the Warriors or Thunder.

Cleveland will surely get out of the first round, but it’s going to take some effort against an underrated Detroit squad. The Pistons will set the tone early and make this a difficult game 1.

They’ve already beaten the Cavaliers three times this season, so there’s little reason to doubt they’re capable. With the lines on the rest of the matchups today tight, this is the one that stands out.

I don’t necessarily like it as much as my bet sizing would indicate, but with my recurring issue of free-failing emerging again, it’s time to gamble in a last-ditch effort to get my bankroll back to a competitive level. The Pistons were a good bet in the regular season, so why not in the postseason?
