Police ID woman killed after teen ran red light

Fatal crash

A 58-year-old Las Vegas woman who died in a two-vehicle collision in the northwest valley Friday has been identified as Rebecca Ann Isbell, the Clark County Coroner's Office said today.

Isbell died in the crash involving her 1998 Saturn SC2 and a 2009 Jeep Wrangler X driven by 18-year-old Kimberly Williams.

Metro police are still investigating the collision, which occurred about 1 p.m. Friday at Durango and Boseck drives, near Alta Drive.

The Jeep was northbound on Durango Drive, traveling in the center land, south of Boseck Drive, police said. The Saturn was westbound on Boseck in the left turn lane to go southbound on Durango, police said.

As the Saturn entered the intersection on a green traffic signal, the Jeep failed to stop for a northbound red light, evidence and witnesses at the scene told police. The Jeep struck the drivers' side of the Saturn, causing it to travel northbound and come to rest facing south in the northbound lanes of Durango, police said.

Isbell was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews. Williams was taken to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit with minor injuries, police said.

This is the 21st traffic-related death in Metro Police jurisdiction in 2009. The crash remains under investigation by Metro's Accident Investigation Section.
