Police identify driver who crashed into power pole

Fatal crash

A 21-year-old man who crashed into a power pole in the eastern Las Vegas Valley has been identified as Orlando Arechiga-Guzman, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

The manner of death was multiple injuries from the collision and it was deemed an accident, a spokeswoman for the coroner's office said.

A 2001 Chevrolet Silverado left its lane at about 1:25 a.m. Sunday as it traveled east on Russell Road, near Lamb Boulevard, traveling onto the south sidewalk, Metro Police said.

The vehicle struck an overhead light pole and continued east until it collided with a power pole, police said. The driver suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews, police said. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

This is the 27th traffic-related fatality in Metro Police jurisdiction this year. The collision remains under investigation by Metro's Accident Investigation Section.
