Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver break down last week's lopsided high school football contests and preview this Friday's upcoming games. They also discuss the latest news on the neck injury to Shadow Ridge's Zak Hill.

Rancho coach Elvin Dick says he regularly sees great potential in his young team.

The Rams finally started to share that with the rest of the Las Vegas valley when they won their first game of the season, a 25-20 victory over Eldorado.

“We’ve never felt like we were terrible,” Dick said. “We’re just young. We graduated a lot of kids from last year and make a lot of mistakes.”

Rancho made its mistakes again Friday, but Eldorado made more. The Rams recorded two safeties on the Sundevils and also got a couple of turnovers.

Harvey Yarbrough led the Rams with two long receptions and a 90-yard touchdown on a kick return.

Rancho never trailed in the contest.
