The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified an apparent burglar who was shot late Wednesday night by four Metro Police officers after authorities say he fired at police.

Jaime Michael Padilla, 21, of Las Vegas, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the coroner.

Police said Padilla was trying to break into apartments about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday within the Broadstone Montecito Apartments complex on Grand Teton Drive in the northwest valley.

When officers arrived, police say Padilla shot at officers, prompting the officers to return fire. Padilla died at the scene.

Metro identified the four officers involved in the shooting as Dave Reid, 50, who has been with the department for 24 years; Anton Gorup, 42, with Metro for 16 years; Leaareon Fincher, 44, a 15-year veteran; and William Marx, 40, a Metro officer for 13 years.

All four officers are part of Metro's SWAT unit.

The officers were placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
