Metro Police surrounded a home today after they heard what sounded like a gunshot while investigating a theft-related crime, authorities said.
Officers established a perimeter around the home in the 5700 block of East Charleston Boulevard about 1:15 p.m. They were in the process of contacting occupants when they determined the sound was not a gunshot, and they cleared the perimeter, according to Metro spokesman Larry Hadfield.
The initial investigation was of a petty crime at a business in the area.
The occupants of the home were not connected to the crime, Hadfield said.
