Car occupants sought for questioning in fatal east valley shooting

Double homicide

Metro Police are asking for the public's help locating people they say may have information on a fatal double shooting in the east valley last week.

Officers were called about 5 a.m. Aug. 11 to the area behind an apartment complex in the 3000 block of South Nellis Boulevard, near Vegas Valley Drive, where two men were found dead with gunshot wounds, police said.

The men were identified as 30-year-old Villafana Luis Ibarria and 31-year-old Fernando Omar Avila Estrada.

Investigators don't believe the deceased men were armed, and they found what appeared to be a small amount of drugs at the scene.

Police say they are searching for occupants of a red two-door hatchback that was around the 3700 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near North Pecos Road, days before or on the day of the shooting.

They previously said they were looking for at least two suspects who fired more than a dozen shots from two guns.

Anyone with additional information on the case can call Metro's homicide section at 702-828-3521 or email [email protected].

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit crimestoppersofnv.com.
