A lawyer is asking a Las Vegas judge to set bail for a former pharmacy employee charged with returning to his old workplace, holding a female clerk at gunpoint for an hour, looting the store safe and fatally shooting a clerk he used to know.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joseph Sciscento scheduled bail arguments next Tuesday for Jin William Young Ackerman II.

Ackerman is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 3.

Defense attorney Tom Pitaro says he wants to review evidence including store security video that police said they obtained after the Dec. 26 heist.

Pitaro says Ackerman plans to plead not guilty to charges against him.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson says he'll decide in coming weeks whether to seek the death penalty.
