Las Vegas woman killed in apparent murder-suicide identified

Updated Thursday, April 14, 2016 | 3:18 p.m.

A woman shot and killed early Tuesday has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Metro Police said Geri Evelyn Hanson, 50, was shot by a man who then turned the weapon on himself.

About 2:45 a.m., the Las Vegas woman had gone outside a mobile home in the 1100 block of South Mojave Road, near Charleston Boulevard, asking for help and saying the alleged shooter had cut her, according to Metro.

First responders arrived to find Hanson's body outside with multiple wounds, police said. The coroner’s office said she was killed by a shotgun.

The man, who was believed to be armed inside the mobile home, prompted Metro to dispatch a SWAT unit, police said. Officers entered the home and found that he had killed himself. He has not yet been identified.
