Metro releases photo of Las Vegas shooting victim

Medina

METRO POLICE

Jared Medina was found shot dead last week in Las Vegas.

Metro Police continue searching for clues in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man whose body was found near Lake Mead and Martin Luther King boulevards last week.

Hours before his body was found Thursday morning on Lexington Street and Lawry Avenue, Jared Medina had fought with an unidentified person, police said. Medina was known to frequent the area and was possibly searching for a cigarette at the time of the shooting.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation when an autopsy revealed that Medina, whose body showed no obvious or visual signs of trauma, was shot to death and had not overdosed like an initial probe appeared to show.

Few details have been provided, but police said Medina and an unidentified person were involved in a physical fight between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Lake Mead just east of Martin Luther King.

In an effort to garner tips from the public, police released a photo of Medina, one with the type of sweatshirt he was wearing at the time of his death and surveillance video that showed him walking at unidentified locations just prior to his death.
