The area outside Gillette Stadium, known as Patriots plaza, is a large complex of stores and restaurants that includes everything from banks to a Bass Pro Shop, even a hospital. Proponents of the casino argue that with all these amenities already in place, a casino across the street would hardly be a cultural change. Those opposed say it would make what is now a safe shopping center dangerous.
