Letter to the editor:

Resorts could use smoke-free area

I’m transferring from Seattle to Las Vegas when the pandemic has ended, and I have a piece of advice for casino owners.

My wife and I enjoy visiting the casinos and spending some time in front of the slot machines. But when we get home, we have to wash everything due to the smoke smell that gets in our clothes and hair. Not only that, we’d rather not sit for hours in the smoke, not only for health reasons but because it’s uncomfortable and stinks.

Before the casinos reopen, while you’re taking the time and expense to clean surfaces, carpets and everything else, how about sectioning off an area to be smoke-free? The time closed perhaps would air out surfaces so that the smell is not so strong anymore, and a good cleaning should remove most of it.

There are smoke-free areas at a couple of casinos in Washington, and those are the only ones we visit, even though it’s a 30-minute longer drive.
