LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Trump hasn’t earned respect

The Feb. 10 letter “Boorish behavior by all” criticized Democrats in Congress for sitting on their hands and refusing to applaud during the State of the Union address, including failing to applaud “for many of the individuals who were recognized for their achievements” — which included Rush Limbaugh.

The hypocrisy of Trump supporters never ceases to amaze me, including this letter writer, who claims that by such conduct, Democrats ceded the “moral high ground” to President Donald Trump and Republicans. Did he really believe that Democrats would applaud Trump during a purely partisan speech appropriate not for the State of the Union but for one of his rallies, which are filled with lies and insults directed at Never-Trumpers?

And why should Democrats stand for Limbaugh, a devout racist who pushed the birther conspiracy against former President Barack Obama, hosted a political satirist who sang “Puff the Magic Negro” about Obama, said Michelle Obama was guilty of “uppity-ism” and suggested that the NBA be renamed the Thug Basketball Association.

Does he believe Trump and Republican members of Congress exhibited moral courage by abdicating their duties of loyalty to protect, defend and uphold the Constitution during the impeachment proceedings?

Trump has violated the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th Commandments, and not in a small way, by stealing from a charitable foundation and having affairs with multiple women, including a porn star.

So don’t tell me about who has the moral high ground when there is no bounds to Trump and Republicans’ hypocrisy.
