Letter to the editor:

Trump abusing his power again

We now have new elements of President Donald Trump’s pervasive corruption with which to contend.

First, he has threatened the governor of New York with the withholding of federal funds if that state continues to bring lawsuits against him. That is a massive, corrupt use of his power as president.

Secondly, he has openly attacked the character of the foreman of the jury that convicted his friend Roger Stone. Trump has told the world that the juror was biased against Stone and unduly influenced that jury’s deliberations. Can Trump know this to be true? Of course not. But will his supporters know that?

Therefore, we now have an innocent U.S. citizen, presumably with a family, who is under potential threat simply because this president doesn’t see or care that his comments have overstepped the boundaries of the bully pulpit.

How can anyone morally defend this man’s actions?
