Our country, like all countries, is stitched together. Our different groups, with different interests, different histories, different beliefs and different stations of status, are joined at seams.
Those seams regularly get stretched, frequently tear and sometimes come apart completely. If not repaired, we cease to function as a nation and devolve into warring factions and tribes.
Those seams were already weakened when Donald Trump became president. He has continuously probed for the areas of greatest weakness and does his absolute best to rip those seams apart completely.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that the country’s future hangs by a thread.
