LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Speak up against animal cruelty

Recently, police arrested a man for abuse and neglect of two pit bulls in his backyard. One was dead from the heat, and the other was locked in a crate with no shade or water. She, too, would have died of heat stroke before long.

Thankfully, a responsible neighbor called Metro after hearing the dog whimpering.

Animals that die from being left in the heat die a slow, agonizing death. It happens too often and could easily be prevented.

Call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 and report any cruelty and remain anonymous. We need to step up and help Animal Control and Metro whenever we encounter cruelty.
