LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Party of No still has no new ideas

Former President Donald Trump’s Republican Party is the Party of No, as in no legislative proposals for reasonable gun control legislation, no legislation to protect a woman’s reproductive rights, no legislation to protect voting rights, etc.

So what are Republican pundits saying about the showing of Democrats in the midterm elections? Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said the Republican Party shouldn’t be the party of controversial characters (such as Trump) but the party of ideas — ideas for legislative change to improve the lives of American citizens.

Fox News analysts echoed the sentiment that the party doesn’t need offensive, polarizing candidates but rather those capable of formulating and espousing necessary legislative change.

The one and only recent piece of legislation championed by Republicans was the 2017 corporate tax break that simply made the rich even richer. The tax break expires soon, and that is the major reason Republicans fought so hard in the midterms to control the House and Senate — so they could extend the break for the rich.

Generation Z voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, 63% to 35%. Without sounding too harsh, Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker is not a fountain of ideas to save a party bankrupt of them.
