LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

So much death the fault of faith

This human epoch we have seen since the Middle Ages has been quite interesting, with all of its fairy tale texts and wars of conquest and exploitation, but is there ever going to be an end of this religious fanaticism?

I remember ducking for cover with my schoolmates back in the 1950s during nuclear bomb raid drills, and it frightens and saddens me for all the innocent children who have died and will die now that the specter of nuclear war hovers over humanity once again.

Snakes and donkeys don’t speak and that there never was a man who could part a large body of water with a walking stick, or one who could walk on water and feed thousands of people with a few fish and loaves of bread.

But doesn’t everyone know that? Isn’t it the most frightening part of this current war in the Middle East that there are millions of people willing to die and kill because of their blind faith in deceptive premises?

How many sensible men and women want our daughters and sons to be mutilated, maimed and murdered because of the willful ignorance and stubborn stupidity of those who refuse to face reality?
