Letter to the Editor:

Nix Vick’s plans to return to NFL

Saturday’s Associated Press story about the rejection of Michael Vick’s plan to pay creditors caught my attention. With his 23-month prison sentence almost over, he gave testimony regarding Chapter 11 and his return to the NFL. Vick stated he will be working a low-paying construction job until he resumes his football career.

Question: What franchise will risk it and pay the millions Vick still thinks he’s worth? Will they not remember the effect his brutal dogfighting “business” had on the world of professional football? Will they remember the outrage across the country?

Vick was personally responsible for the savage torture and killing of pit bulls kept for his amusement and financial gain in a long-running illegal, cruel business he established.

Vick might be able to repay his creditors. What he did to all those suffering dogs he so easily beat, abused, electrocuted, starved, maimed and killed cannot be paid back or forgotten. The thought of allowing this individual to be on a pro field again, as an “inspiration” to our young fans, turns my stomach.
