It was interesting reading Lisa Mascaro’s story in Sunday’s Las Vegas Sun, “Expect Afghanistan back in the fore.”
The Soviet Union retreated in 1989 after losing about 15,000 troops and had nothing to show for it.
Looking to send in 21,000 more troops to that country, President Barack Obama is going to put us on a path that brought on 9/11 and back to trying to save a country that cares little about Americans except as a market for poppy seed exporting.
How long will it take this country to understand that the Taliban hates Americans and will do anything to kill us? Why do we keep sending troops into harm’s way?
We have the best air force in the world, plus bombs that can penetrate the mountain regions of Afghanistan.
Why do these people in Washington never get it? We can’t save Afghanistan, but we sure as hell can save a lot of troops if we think smart. And if all those so-called leaders in Washington persist in sending more troops, have them draft their kids and grandkids for the job.
