Angle’s strategy is to play to her crowd of fans

On Tuesday the Las Vegas Sun reported that Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle has little to say on what to do as an alternative to Social Security — “Social Security: Big issue, few ideas” — and this was treated like news. Does anyone for a moment think that she actually has a definitive, superior alternative to Social Security?

Angle plays to a specific crowd, a crowd who will whoop and chant every time she says something that disenfranchises our government. When you look at this woman’s resume and record of behavior in government, where does one find the slightest reference to her experience or working knowledge of Social Security?

Her strategy for getting elected is to be a 100 percent counterpoint to Democratic Sen. Harry Reid. As the senator speaks about making the program better, she rails against its existence and plays to her crowd. Without being elected and then being privy to Congress’ discussions and impact studies on the subject, she has proclaimed that it has got to go. What a candidate!
