Regarding Dave Mesker’s Tuesday letter to the editor, headlined “Casinos aren’t tending to needs of the little guy”:
I agree that our local casinos need to improve their interaction with the “little guy.”
Their costs have been dramatically reduced by ticket-in, ticket-out machines and ATM change machines. They no longer have the costs associated with multiple cashiers, cashiering windows or coin runners for fill-ups and jams. Cashier areas have been replaced with ever more low-paying penny machines.
Additionally, employment costs to fill those positions have been dramatically reduced.
Surely they could give us a little more play for our pennies! Comps barely cover the cost of gas to drive to the casino.
I don’t go to the casino for a free T-shirt. Give me a fair break in play for my afternoon.
