Richard Rychtarik’s Jan. 30 letter to the editor, headlined “The budget’s hidden cost,” was right on the money.
The top tax rate was cut from 70 percent to 35 percent during the Reagan administration and started us on our long national decline. We have millionaires and billionaires, but we also have terrible poverty, millions of homeless, poor education, a rotting infrastructure and bankrupt cities and states.
If we continue to believe that lower taxes are good for America, we will continue to decline.
