LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

A lottery in Nevada could help casinos

I just don’t understand. I thought the people who run casinos were smart. Don’t they know by having a lottery — if lottery tickets were sold only in casinos — it would make them more money? I would think that, in times like this, they would do anything to bring more people and money into their casinos.

The casinos could make a percentage on each ticket. They could get people into the casinos to buy a ticket and maybe spend money while they are there on other things. The people who win would have money to come back and spend.

Furthermore, casinos could get the money that people are taking to California and other states that sell lottery tickets. Can’t they see the big picture?

Casinos would get people like me (who don’t go there) to buy a ticket and maybe dinner while I am there, or a drink or something else. There are so many pluses of a lottery. Look at other states that have casinos and a state lottery.

I am from Pennsylvania, and a lot of people here from back East like to play the numbers and the lottery. It works back there, so why not here?
