Amen to Brian Covey’s insightful Sunday letter to the editor, headlined “Take a closer look at mining taxes.”
He was right when he stated that “our mining taxes should be based on a rate competitive with other major mining areas.”
I would be very curious to see what those rates are in, say, Montana or California. I challenge you to print them and I challenge this community to consider that our miners are most definitely making a profit off the backs of people with disabilities, the elderly and other people here in the Las Vegas Valley who are truly needy.
