For many years I have been traveling to a California lottery store, located just past Primm across the border, to purchase tickets. People purchase lottery tickets at this store every day, whether they are scratchers or number games.
Virtually all of the cars outside the store have Nevada license plates. It sure doesn’t seem that Nevada casinos are hurt by the lottery here as a result of Nevadans buying lottery tickets. This is the case in the most populous parts of this state, the Reno and Las Vegas areas.
Let’s get with the program. If education needs a boost, then a lottery can help. This evidence doesn’t seem to support the premise that casinos will be going under because of a lottery in Nevada.
