Regarding Stuart Weiss’ Monday letter to the editor, headlined “Means to help disadvantaged students succeed”:
I agree with him that we should help students succeed who are intellectually and financially deprived.
We need to provide mentors — lots of them. These are people who would share the students’ cultures, who have overcome similar obstacles and who can gain the respect of those in desperate need of leaders.
There are many potential mentors in the community. It is time for them to join in such a worthy effort.
