The Republican Party strategy is blatantly obvious.
First, to build support from their Tea Party stalwarts, Republicans in Congress will propose all sorts of spending cuts that have no chance of being approved. Even if the cuts occur, they would achieve their second goal, which is to do whatever is necessary to increase the unemployment rate to horrendous levels so they can go into the 2012 elections and blame the Democrats.
Whatever happened to members of Congress who, by and large, used to truly represent the electorate instead of the moneyed interests? Imagine what Teddy Roosevelt, a Republican, would do in these times if he were president.
