Russia is insulting the world as it holds the Olympics in Sochi, a mere 10 miles from the disputed Abkhazia, which is claimed by both the Republic of Georgia as well as Russia and saw thousands of deaths in a war several years ago.
Also close to Sochi is Chechnya, where two large wars killed many tens of thousands of people.
The Caucasus mountain region of the former Soviet Union contains these and numerous other ethnic, religious and political conflicts.
After all the decades and years of murder and pillage caused by Russia, it is scandalous for the Russians to hold the Olympics so close to so much death and misery inflicted by Russia and its local allies.
