Wake up before it’s too late, America

All Americans, regardless of party, want to avoid a nuclear threat that would destroy America. Therefore, the only place most of us diverge is whether the threat from Iran is grave enough.

As surprising as it might seem, millions of Americans are tone deaf to this threat, leaving it to government to place a nuclear shield over them as they “attend to their knitting.” Many others have no idea their nation faces any threats at all. These are the uninformed — a growing part of our society.

If we can accept this demographic paradigm, at least to some degree, we can fast conclude that America will require a sudden jolt just to wake up. This happened Dec. 7, 1941, and again Sept. 11, 2001. The real danger faced by America is being lulled into a sense of false security.

The letter “Don’t be afraid of impending doom” (Las Vegas Sun, March 19) is a good example of my point. I would implore America to wake up. It’s later than we think.
