Bundy’s cattle suffer in the heat

Wow, it was 111 degrees in Mesquite on a recent Friday and 107 degrees a few days later. We are warned to bring our dogs in, check on our senior neighbors and under no circumstances leave a child or a dog in a vehicle.

Gold Butte lies just southeast of Mesquite. While we talk a lot about Cliven Bundy and the errors of his ways, do you ever think about the cattle he leaves to roam Gold Butte in all this heat? No food, water is sparse at best, and it is as hot as an oven. Moving from shade to shade must take a lot of effort under these conditions.

In the world of cattlemen who actually care about their herd, cattle are taken north for the summer and south for the winter. Bundy’s cattle must survive the summer under the most horrible conditions.
