letter to the editor:

City needs better construction plan

The road construction that has turned Rampart Boulevard near the Summerlin Parkway into a nightmare for months on end is still in full swing. Now we have a new street project tearing things up at Cheyenne Avenue and Durango Drive. I live right in the middle of both these jobs.

I, along with many other residents in this area, have had to rearrange my life because the city officials who are responsible aren’t smart enough to avoid starting multiple road construction jobs so close to each other. This is much more than an inconvenience — it’s now becoming dangerous, and there seems to be no end in sight. There are only so many routes in and out of Summerlin, and people continue to have to work and keep medical appointments. Most days, just getting to the grocery stores in the area is an effort. Major road construction so close together also can slow down emergency vehicles, school buses, police officers, firefighters, etc. But it’s obvious from the blatant lack of concern on the city’s part that it really doesn’t care.
