Thank you for posting Hank Greenspun’s original column about the opening of the Riviera in 1955 (“As in 1955, the old gives way to the new,” lasvegassun.com, May 3). Wow, what a blast from the past that puts the development of the Strip in perspective. The only thing missing was Brian Greenspun’s own memories of riding that nine-story elevator for the first time and whether they brought box lunches in case of a breakdown!
