letters to the editor:

Politicians carry blame for wrongs

The letter “Police misdeeds may finally bring changes” (Las Vegas Sun, May 11) is a little shy of truths. The letter writer states that white police officers in Baltimore killed a black man, Freddie Gray. The truth is that three of the charged officers are black, and the officer facing the murder charge is one of the black officers.

No, I am not on the side of the police department here or anywhere else. I have been the victim of abusive police too many times in my life to ever give blind support to any police department. The reason for my letter is simply to point out what is going on in our nation concerning racism.

Far too many times, blacks are arrested and then charged with crimes that do not fit the situation. It is also true that because the government holds down the blacks economically, blacks commit more crimes than any other race.

Democrats are the real criminals because while they talk a good game, they actually do nothing to bring about economic change in the black community. Why do the Democrats fight tax reform? It is simple: As long as they control the way taxes are collected, they can spend our money any way they choose. They have created a whole class of people who are dependent on the government to survive.

If Democrats and the Republicans were serious about making America a better place to live for blacks, they would throw out the income tax, replace it with the fair tax and get out of the way as the economy explodes and people have the opportunity to escape the clutches of government handouts. But alas, the lobbyists and corrupt career politicians will never give up their power voluntarily. Instead, they will continue to fan the flames of racism in America so they can continue to reap the rewards of votes from the dependents of their liberal agenda.

While Americans burn their neighborhoods, the liberals are pointing fingers. The truth is when they point their fingers at the cops, they should note there are three fingers pointing back, and for good reason.
