Letter to the editor:

Berkshire bigwigs need to see the light

Regarding the article “Berkshire Hathaway shareholders sign petition supporting rooftop solar”(lasvegassun.com, Sept. 2):

Roger Levine, Faith Frank and 398 other Berkshire shareholders are clear-sighted and courageous people.

They have solar panels on their homes and want other people and businesses to be able to do the same. They discern how that’s good for all of us — good for the environment, for the economy, for our future. They are willing to look beyond their personal short-term gain as shareholders and see that in the long run, rooftop solar has a wide range of real benefits.

Rooftop solar puts power production in the hands of homeowners and businesspeople. It has zero costs for fuel, provides jobs for thousands of Nevadans, operates with no pollution, does not contribute to climate disruption and doesn’t consume pristine public land in the Mojave Desert. What’s not to love?

The big shareholders and CEOs need to see the light!
