Letter to the editor:

Trump shouldn’t run the country

In reading the letter “Imagine a nation ruled by Trump” (Las Vegas Sun, March 29), I thought to myself, Now, there is somebody who is finally telling the truth about Donald Trump and what kind of president he would be.

But the writer forgot to mention Trump’s intent to repeal women’s right to vote along with the repeal of Social Security and Medicare as we know them, probably my making Social Security a stock investment program — voluntary of course — which by nature would exclude poor seniors (the ones who need it the most). Medicare would be turned into a voucher system, which would be totally inadequate and again hurt poor seniors the most. These changes would be nothing new, as the GOP has been trying to force them on seniors for as long as I can remember (I am 86).

I know Trump says he won’t repeal these programs; he will just change them and make them better. Well, if the aforementioned changes will make them better, it is better to leave them as they are.

Trump has proven himself to be an egotistical bully with authoritarian bent and fascist tendencies. In fact, he reminds one of another fascist, Adolf Hitler, with Mexicans and Muslims and maybe the “useless” seniors being the Jews of Hitler’s day.

Trump has run a huge conglomeration of companies, but this is nothing like running a country, as some naïve voters seem to think. You can’t fire a citizen like you can an employee, and citizens can have you thrown out of office, which employees can’t. A citizen has rights granted by the Constitution, which an employee doesn’t, and on and on. I think Trump should remain where he is and leave running the country to somebody who knows how to do it.
