Obama gun plan a waste of tax funds

I sympathize with Darchel Mohler, whose guest column, “Help undo Heller’s gun-safety failure,” was in the Jan. 8 edition of the Sun and who lost a 13-year-old daughter to a tragic gun accident.

However, in deploring Sen. Dean Heller’s efforts to block more background checks she mentions that the child was shot by accident at a friend’s house by that friend, who found the gun in a kitchen cabinet. All the background checks in the world would not have prevented this. The gun was not owned by a criminal or a mentally disturbed person, the individuals background checks are supposed to keep from getting guns.

Let’s get real. Criminals will always get guns regardless of laws. By the way, many of President Barack Obama’s new gun-control proposals are already on the books. The fact that he wants to hire tons of agents for his program is beyond belief and a huge waste of our money.
