Flores campaign ad comes just ahead of early voting

Democratic congressional candidate Lucy Flores released her first television ad today, a little more than a week before early voting begins.

The ad highlights her positions on a number of issues, including expanding social security, advocating for affordable education and promoting women’s access to health care. Flores, a former state assemblywoman, is locked in what is largely seen as a three-way Democratic primary in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District.

“Lucy’s walked in our shoes, and no one will fight harder for us,” the narrator in the ad says. “She’s not afraid to take on the powerful interests, to expand social security, make education affordable, create an economy that works for everyone, and protect women’s health care from Republican attacks.”

The ad also touts several of Flores’ endorsements, including those by Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and other progressive organizations.

Flores is the last of the three main Democratic primary contenders to hit the airwaves.

State Sen. Ruben Kihuen was up first with an ad early last week.

Philanthropist Susie Lee went up with her first ad earlier this week and released a second one today.

That ad features Lee talking with a group of seniors about her family’s experience with Social Security and Medicare.

“When my dad turned 65, he and my mom got by mostly on Social Security,” Lee says in the ad. “And they both fell and broke their hips, and Medicare was a lifesaver for them. And it still is for my mom.”

Early voting in the Nevada primaries begins May 28 and continues through June 10. The primary election is June 14.
