Letter to the editor:

Superintendent has uphill climb

Jesus Jara, the superintendent has many ideas to make the Clark County School District No. 1 in the nation.

The reality is that until you fix the interval problem regarding teachers, that is not going to happen.

There have been no raises in 10 years and no step increases; the health trust is not for the teachers’ benefit; and we have a morale problem that just will not go away.

Respect for teachers is nonexistent. Promises made by other leaders have been lies. The administration fights every arbitration decision, including one last month, has resulted in no pay increase, no benefit change and a continual cry of “no money.”

The 2018-19 school year will have 800-plus vacancies. Where are you going to find qualified educators to fill in the gaps?

Those of you contemplating going into teaching, please reconsider your options.
