In response to the April 29 letter, “Constituents come first”:
This old vet and his colleagues didn’t serve to help protect a few thousand people; we did to protect all Americans.
What if a elected official lives in an area equally divided in beliefs? Should the elected official make the decision on his own? No, he or she must always put the country first, no matter his or her beliefs.
The letter writer’s way of thinking is the reason why our country is so divided.
The Constitution was written to provide protection for all, not a few, so it is time to start being a team player.
